The 7th and 8th grade teams played this past week against Clarksville and at the Rivercrest tournament this past week and weekend. Here are the results:

8A boys
Clarksville 42 Red Lick 10
The Mustangs faced off against the Clarksville Tigers last Thursday and fell by a final score of 42-10. The Mustangs battled all game and were led by Cass McMillon with 4 points and Kamden Kyles with 3 points. It was the 8th grade boys first loss of the season against a good Tiger squad.
1/18 Rivercrest Tournament
7A Boys
Red Lick 34 Avery 8
The 7A Mustangs faced off against Avery in the first game of the Rivercrest Junior High tournament on Saturday and won by a final score of 34-8. The Mustangs got out to a 14-0 1st half lead and never looked back. Eli Rankin led all scorers with 14 points, and Everett DeGroot added 5 points. The Mustangs had 7 different players score in the contest.
James Bowie 37 Red Lick 25
The 7A Mustangs played James Bowie in the last game of the tournament on Saturday, falling by a final score of 37-25. It was a game of physical and mental toughness and the boys battled the entire game. Jude McKeever led the Mustangs with 9 points and Samuel Gonzalez added 6 points with two 3-point baskets.
8A Boys
Red Lick 35 Harts Bluff 7
The 8A Mustangs started off hot in the first game of the Rivercrest Tournament and never looked back, beating the Harts Bluff Bulldogs by a final score of 35-7. Kamden Kyles led all scorers with 13 points, all coming in the first half, and Trent Bearden & Cooper Swanson added 8 points for the Mustangs. The Mustangs led 27-5 at halftime and played hard the entire game.
Red Lick 21 Rivercrest 16
The Mustangs came out on top in a tough game vs. the Rivercrest Rebels by a final score of 21-16. Leading 18-10 midway through the 4th quarter, the Rebels cut the lead to 2 points in the last 2 minutes of the game but the Mustangs had key offensive and defensive plays in the end to come out on top. Kamden Kyles had 11 points for the Mustangs and Cooper Swanson added 5 points. Grant Swenson added 3 points and Cooper Hampton played a key role in leading the Mustangs to victory late in the game.
Overall, the 8A Mustangs are now 8-1 on the season and the 7A Mustangs are 7-1 on the season. The boys will be back in action this Thursday at Red Lick vs. the James Bowie Pirates. 7/8B game inter-squad will start at 4:30pm, followed by the 7A boys and the 8A Mustangs. We will also have a boys tournament this Saturday at Red Lick. 7A boys will play at 8am & 2pm and 8A will play at 9am & 3pm.
