Boys Basketball

The 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams faced off last night against Rivercrest for their 4th game of district. Here are the results:

7/8 B Game

White Team 20     Blue Team 15

Grant Swenson, Griffin Pettit and Lucas Collins led the white team with 7 points a piece in the B game last night. Turner McGee and Josiah Robinson led the Blue team with 5 points a piece.

7th A Game

Red Lick 23     Rivercrest 15

The 7th grade A boys came away with the victory in the 2nd game last night by a final score of 23-15. The Mustangs led after the 1st quarter by a score of 8-2 and did not look back. Jude McKeever led the Mustangs with 9 points and a number of steals in the contest. Ethan Kessler and Samuel Gonzalez chipped in 6 points a piece and had numerous key rebounds in the game to seal the victory for the Mustangs. 

8th A Game

Red Lick 35     Rivercrest 30

The 8th grade A boys won the final game of the night by a final score of 35-30. The Mustangs started strong, going on a 9-0 run to open the game in the first 2 minutes of the game. The Mustangs were led by Kamden Kyles with 20 points, and Ashton Smallwood added 9 points. Cooper Hampton, Cooper Swanson, and Cass McMillon led the Mustangs on the defensive end of the floor and had many important plays throughout the game to lead the Mustangs to victory. 

With the wins, both the 7th A and 8th A boys are 4-0 in district play heading into the Christmas break. The boys have been playing hard and getting after it over the last month in both practices and games. The Mustangs will be back in action after the break on January 9th at Detroit. 7th A boys will start at 5pm with the 8th A boys to follow. I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Go Mustangs!!
