Red Lick Basketball

The Mustangs boys basketball teams travelled to Paul Pewitt last night to face off in their 2nd district games of the season. Here are the results:

7th Grade

Red Lick 29     Pewitt 11

The 7th grade boys came out on top in the first game of the night by a final score of 29-11. Jude Mckeever had 11 points for the Mustangs and many key defensive steals on the night. Eli Ranking contributed 6 points, with Ethan Kessler and Samuel Gonzalez adding 4 points each. 

8th Grade

Red Lick 41     Pewitt 37  --- OT

The 8th grade boys were victorious in an overtime shootout against the Pewitt Brahmas by a final score of 41-37. Trent Bearden hit the game tying free throw with 24 seconds left in the 4th quarter to send the Mustangs into overtime. Ashton Smallwood led all scorers with 21 points and Kamden Kyles added 17, with both dominating on the glass all game. Cooper Hampton added 2 points and was a key factor in the Mustangs pulling out the victory on the defensive end of the floor. 

With the wins, both teams are now 2-0 in district play. The boys will travel to Harts Bluff next Monday on 12/9 to face off against the Bulldogs. The 7th grade boys will start at 5pm and the 8th grade will follow. Go Mustangs!!
