Baseball Results

The Red Lick Mustangs faced off against the Chapel Hill Red Devils and the McLeod Longhorns last night for their first home games of the season. Here are the results:

Game 1 

Red Lick 12     Chapel Hill 4

The Red Lick Mustangs won the first game of the night over the Chapel Hill Red Devils by a final score of 12-4. The Red Lick got on the board early with an RBI Triple by Luke Wasson, scoring Wright Telg after he led off the game with a single in the lead off spot. Will Dougherty had a sacrifice RBI to put the Mustangs on top 2-0 going into the top of the 2nd. Owen Thomas started the 2nd inning with a walk and scored on a Liam Tye double to put the Mustangs up 3-0. Later that inning, Wright Telg drove in two RBI's to extend the Mustangs lead. Luke Wasson picked up the win on the mound, throwing 3 innings of scoreless baseball while striking out seven batters. Branson Browning added a 2 RBI single and Avery Ross added an RBI single in the game. 

Game 2

Red Lick 9     McLeod 1

The Mustangs came out on top in the final game of the night by a final score of 9-1 over McLeod Longhorns. Will Dougherty started the game for the Mustangs, tossing 3 innings while striking out six Longhorns. The Mustangs had hits by Wright Telg, Branson Browning, Lawson Brainerd, and Demariyea Williams in the game. With the two wins, the Mustangs moved to 7-1 heading into the final games of the season next Monday, 10/5. The Mustangs will play Chapel Hill at Spring Lake Park, with the first game scheduled for a 4pm first pitch. Come out and support the boys if you get the chance, as this will be our 8th grade boys final games of the season. Go Mustangs!!
